Patriotic Front(PF) charges that the MMD government will not go for a national referendume because it knows it will lose

Opposition Patriotic Front (PF) says that it does not believe the Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD) government will go for a national referendum on constitutional concerns because it knows it will loose.

PF Vice President Dr Guy Scott said this in reaction to expressions made by some members of the donor community that they are ready to fund the referendum on constitutional concerns if government requests.
Dr Scott said that it is clear from the statistics that the Zambian people want a referendum and 50 1 percent and only the MMD is against it adding that the donors should express interest in the country%u2019s others concerns like the forth coming national census.

He said the donors will just waste the money because it is clear that the MMD government is rigid when it comes to the issue of holding a referendum on constitutional concerns.
In another development Patriotic Front Vice President Guy Scott has said that government is to blame for the poor drainage system in some parts of the capital city Lusaka because it has failed to release money for the project.
Dr Scott said that the money that has so far been released for the drainage system is too little and the opposition political party%u2019s area Members of Parliament and councilors for these areas have used the initiative of using Community Development Funds for the project which he said was also too little to meet the demand.
He said that government knows and agrees that the money given for the project is too little adding that the money for the Kanyama drainage system was only released on the 7th of December making it difficult for the contractor to carry out the works because of the rains.
The Dr said out of the K30 billion estimated for the drainage system in Kanyama alone, only K9.8 billion was released on the 7th of December.
